LWJES will celebrate Nevada Day and Halloween on Thursday, October 27, 2022. There will be no school on Friday, October 28, 2022, in observance of Nevada Day.

Students are invited to wear costumes to school on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Please observe the following:

• We encourage students to come in their costumes, if they choose to wear them, for the day. We will not be able to allow students to change into costumes in the afternoon.
• Costume-related masks may only be worn during the parade.
• Make-up is discouraged for this day. If worn, make-up is not to be touched-up or applied at school. Students who wear make-up to school should use care to keep their make-up neat and avoid getting make-up on school surfaces or their clothes.
• Fake weapons are not allowed.

We will have a Nevada Day/Halloween costume parade on October 27, 2022, at 1:45 p.m. We are welcoming families to join us for this event. We will open the gate at the parking lot/field area (Battista Gate) and the gate by the basketball courts on Bermuda at 1:35 p.m. All visitors are to enter at a gate and then head to an identified fence to spread out to watch the parade. After the parade, we request families depart campus as quickly as possible so gates can be secured. Classes will return to their rooms after the parade and enjoy a Nevada Day/Halloween celebration. Celebrations are reserved for students only.

Please, no school-age children are to attend the event (middle school and high school students). Families who bring non-school-age children, please consider the length of the event and your child’s needs. We expect any younger siblings to demonstrate appropriate school behavior, and we ask parents/guardians to closely supervise younger siblings at all times. Please refrain from allowing younger siblings to play on the playground as this event is focused on our students. We appreciate you picking up students following the usual dismissal routine this day.

Please refer to additional information from your child’s teacher about this celebration. Family members will not be allowed to join the classroom celebrations as they are for students only.

Students will have a party on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Teachers will send specific information separately regarding their classroom party. Classroom parties are reserved for students only.

We ask that students do not wear their costumes to school on Monday, October 31, 2022.

LWJES will host a family picnic during lunch on Friday, October 21, 2022. All students will have lunch on the grass areas this day, and families are welcome to join students for the picnic. There will be one lunch period this day from 11:45 to 12:15 rather than the usual two lunches. Families may choose to bring in lunch for their child or students will be able to take a lunch from the lunch room for the picnic. All students and families are encouraged to bring a blanket or towel to sit on during the picnic.

The entry gate for families to join the event will be through the gate on the main field by the Battista auxiliary parking lot or through the gate on Mardon by the 4-square courts. We will open gates at about 11:35 a.m. All classes will join on grass areas and there will be signs around the for classes. Families with students in different classes can choose to eat together in one spot by a class.

The entire time will be set aside for dining. Students will have a recess at a different time. We request that there is no play or games during the picnic period. All students will stay on the grass area with their classes and families. At the end of the picnic, students will return to their classes by lining up at the dots while families depart through the gates.

If you ordered a 2021-2022 yearbook, they will be available for pick up from the front office starting on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Yearbooks that were ordered online will require a signature when picking up the yearbook. We are not selling any yearbooks at this time, although we may have a limited amount of yearbooks available for purchase shortly.

The front office is closed for summer break from Monday, June 20, 2022, through Tuesday, July 19, 2022. The office will reopen on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 7:30 a.m.

The LWJES Summer Acceleration Program begins Tuesday, May 31, 2022, for those students with a confirmed seat. The hours for the program are the same as the regular school year. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. The single point of arrival will be the front doors. All students will dismiss from the from doors at 3:21 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for those students attending the program. Students who qualify for bus service will continue to qualify for bus service for the summer program.

There is no school for spring break. The school office will also be closed for spring break.

• Spring break begins on Monday, April 11, 2022.
• Spring break ends on Monday, April 18, 2022.
• Classes resume on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

The final day of classes prior to winter break is Friday, December 17, 2021.

Winter break for students begins Monday, December 20, 2021, and ends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. There is no school for students during winter break. We wish everyone an enjoyable and safe break!

Classes resume for students on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. We look forward to seeing students back in the new year!
